New Music : Find A Way By Cosmo Baker And Grandtheft

Hey y’all, me and my ace Grandtheft got together a few years ago in a hotel room in Vancouver and started talking about doing a record together. After some quick sketchpad ideas there, I flew up to Toronto a little while later and we worked on it in the studio and we came up with this cool record. Eventually finishing up in a hotel room in Chicago we came up with this fun house record. We’re proud to present “Find A Way” featuring Jeanette “Lady” Day, out now on Beatport!

Blow The Bird Whistle – Too $hort Bird Machine Bootleg

Bird Whistle

One of the hottest records burning up the dancefloors and killing it in my sets comes from France in the form of DJ Snake’s “Bird Machine” first released on Mad Decent’s Jeffree’s imprint. A funny little tune that was neither rap nor trap but a bit of both, it really sets it off when I play it. Recently I was messing around in my live sets and blending Too $hort’s “Blow The Whistle” with it (duh) and it’s been coming off like crazy. So I whipped up this simple but incredibly effective little bootleg blend for everyone’s enjoyment! Hope you like it and if so, LIKE it, comment on it, share, blog, rip, burn, play, rock out to it, and all that good stuff!

Too Much Posse

Back in the day I used to bust out all these random mixes just for the hell of it, mostly for the purpose of listening to a set of songs while I’m walking around Manhattan or driving between here and there. That’s how the first Love Break mix came about, which I was persuaded to release as actual product because of the tremendous response to it. However for the most part these joints were just on some headphone shit for me, and after a while I usually totally forget that these weird mixes even existed. And then I totally remember that I did these mixes cause I’ll be in a place like Seattle and someone will be like “Yo remember this random posse cut” and I’ll be like “Oh yeah cause I once did a mix that’s over 2 and a half hours of some of my favorite posse cuts.” Mad conceptual, son.

So yeah, I am totally rediscovering all these old mixes I made back in the day so I am gonna start to release them as I can. Here’s one that I like a lot, all classic rap posse cuts. Back in the day there was always the posse cut on the album, and it was frequently my favorite song on the record, with every emcee trying to outdo the other dudes. They should bring back posse cuts. And the DJ track too – that would be hella tite.

PS: RIP to Chris Lighty (featured on Black Sheep’s “Pass The 40”)

James Power

I did this joint really quick a few years ago after grabbing all the “Mind Power” stems and literally threw this together in like 15 minutes or less. After playing it out a bunch people started really hawking me for it and I put it up on the Music section of my site. Well, my Music section is kind of a mess and I’m hoping that me and my cousin (who did this site for me) can sort that out – even though him and his wife are having twins not too long from now…

But because recently I’ve had so many people ask me for a re-up, I figured it was time. So with no further ado, I give to you…
