Scion A/V Presents Prince Paul: Beating Up New York

Our friends over at Scion A/V have teamed with the legendary Prince Paul for his new series “Musician Impossible: Prince Paul’s Adventurous Musical Journey.”  The show follows Paul and his cohorts Mr. Dead and Soce on a cross-country quest for new musical inspiration. On this debut episode, the gang hit Paul’s home – Money Making Manhattan – to link up with some of my good buddies, Win Win, Boston’s Soul Clap and the one and only Style Of Eye. Paul gets a crash course on the new wave of dance music. Fresh to death…

The Death Set

Here’s the new official video from my buddies The Death Set, “Can You See Straight,” produced and mixed by my other good buddy XXXChange (who just turned into a dad.) Definitely my new favorite song. Watch this video and then share it with your friends. This song is about not giving up, even when it feels like you should.

Then go and buy some of the music, and go see them at a show.

Will Do

The more I’ve thought about it over the years, the more I’ve listened, the more I’m convinced that TV On The Radio is the most significant band of the 21st Century. No need to rationalize it or explain it. But know that you’ll never like them as much as I like them. And in a way, where their career runs concurrent with the Rise Of The Brooklyn Empire, they are the most decidedly anti-Williamsburg poster boys, not allowing themselves and the message in their art be drown out by an atmosphere of deadly cynicism, hearts rested firmly on sleeves. I truly appreciate that. To me they have shown a particular development over the course of the past 5 albums where their new album is nestled comfortably between the raw and the refined. One of the top albums of the year.

As someone who has seen them live several times I’ll attest to their live performance being someone overtaking. In fact several years ago at a show in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park bandshell, a particularly intense rendition of “Wolf Like Me” sent people into a sort of epileptic fit. That’s good in my opinion. So yeah, they’re my shit. And Rest In Peace Gerard Smith.

Here’s the great remix by my good buddy XXXChange – or should I say Big Papa XXXChange! Congrats to Alex & Courtney. Youse guys is the besssssssssssssssss…
