Will Do
The more I’ve thought about it over the years, the more I’ve listened, the more I’m convinced that TV On The Radio is the most significant band of the 21st Century. No need to rationalize it or explain it. But know that you’ll never like them as much as I like them. And in a way, where their career runs concurrent with the Rise Of The Brooklyn Empire, they are the most decidedly anti-Williamsburg poster boys, not allowing themselves and the message in their art be drown out by an atmosphere of deadly cynicism, hearts rested firmly on sleeves. I truly appreciate that. To me they have shown a particular development over the course of the past 5 albums where their new album is nestled comfortably between the raw and the refined. One of the top albums of the year.
As someone who has seen them live several times I’ll attest to their live performance being someone overtaking. In fact several years ago at a show in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park bandshell, a particularly intense rendition of “Wolf Like Me” sent people into a sort of epileptic fit. That’s good in my opinion. So yeah, they’re my shit. And Rest In Peace Gerard Smith.
Here’s the great remix by my good buddy XXXChange – or should I say Big Papa XXXChange! Congrats to Alex & Courtney. Youse guys is the besssssssssssssssss…
